đź“ŤÂ Finding a Location
Coffee shops, food halls, creative studios, breweries, restaurants, parks, and free museums are usually great options. However, we recommend taking a deeper dive before making a decision.
In your search, please consider opting for venues that are:
- Quiet. This will help facilitate conversation and enable those with hearing impairments to actively participate and feel included.
- Spacious, as they’re more conducive for casual networking. In your search, look for venues with large tables or open spaces for mingling.
- Physically accessible. If this information is not available online, you should be able to make a quick call to confirm ramps, elevators, and other measures are available.
- Public transport accessible. If you can find a spot that’s centrally located and within walking distance to a nearby metro, train, or bus station — this is ideal!
- Cost-accessible. Rather than a fancy sit-down restaurant, pick a food hall or casual eatery where folks have a lot of low-cost choices to pick from.
- Open to reservations for larger parties. Although this is not essential, it does ease stress when you can get a table or designated area reserved in advance.
🗓️ Selecting a Date and Time
We generally recommend hosting on a Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday (no earlier than 6:00 PM) or Saturday (morning or afternoon). These times have been the most successful in the United States, as they avoid conflicts with the typical work day and fall on days when people are feeling more delighted and social.
